FAQs

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE FIRST SESSION?

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet face-to-face. At this time, I will provide a comprehensive assessment, which will take into account your personal history, present-day concerns, and your goals for therapy. I will also share information about my practice and answer any questions you may have about my process. If you’d like to continue working with me, therapy will begin during the following session.

HOW LONG AND HOW OFTEN WILL I BE IN THERAPY?

Depending on your needs and goals, we can determine the best timeframe and frequency for working together. Therapy is most beneficial when it's conducted weekly. Based on countless studies and my professional experience as a therapist, clients who commit to weekly sessions for the duration of treatment make the greatest transformations. Sometimes it’s more appropriate to meet more or less often.

DO YOU OFFER TELEHEALTH?

Yes! I can do remote or in-person sessions, depending on clients’ needs.

WHAT IS EMDR?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and it is an effective way for patients to process their traumatic memories, developmental trauma, and to ameliorate symptoms of PTSD. It is a multiphase model that is directed by the therapist, and the bilateral stimulation (visually, holding vibrating tappers, or by the patient tapping his or her shoulders) allows the right brain to process deeply in addition to talking about the issues. This can be highly effective for patients who are stuck, their emotions are blocked, and patients who struggle with depression, anxiety, anger, and interpersonal relationships.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not accept payment from insurance companies directly. Your plan, however, may reimburse you a portion of your financial investment if you have out-of-network coverage. I provide a monthly superbill with a CPT diagnosis code, the dates of service/fee, and my Tax ID number in order to submit to insurance for reimbursement.
